An Architect and Philanthropist in Bayelsa, Reuben Okoya, on Wednesday called on the electorate in Bayelsa to support candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Okoya made the call during an interaction with newsmen in Yenagoa. He also urged them to shun any act of violence during and after the polls.
The philanthropist, who said he had been part of the campaign train of PDP candidates, described the party as a party to be with.
He urged the youths to vote massively for the PDP and shun any act of violence that might lead to loss of lives and properties during and after the polls.
“PDP is the party to be with. PDP is the party to support. PDP has actually been in Bayelsa all these times and has done great works.
“We need to support our party all the way to sustain the gains made so far in the socio-economic development of the state.
“We are all working hard to ensure that PDP stays in the state for greater and better things to happen.
“Nobody knows what tomorrow may be, we are all hopeful that we will all be a part of the development of Bayelsa for the children of the future,’’ he said.
Okoya described the candidates as people with bright future for Bayelsa, saying they were properly screened.
He commended the people for their massive turn out at all the rallies held in Bayelsa.
The philanthropist charged the police to be neutral and not partisan and also urged the security agents to maintain the peace and orderliness on the election days.
