Architect Reuben Boutuaowei Okoya was born on 3rd July 1961, to Late His Royal Majesty Ezekiel Pappah Okoya of Bumoundi in Ekpetiama Clan, the Ibenanaowei of Ekpetiama kingdom and late Mrs. Sussanah Okoya of the eminent family of Chief Michael Engule Soba of Igbedi, both of Bayelsa State.

Education

His father’s belief in education made him drive all his children to become graduates with master’s degrees or professionals in their fields of endeavor. In that seed, Late King Ezekiel Pappah Okoya ensured that all his eight children, had the best of education and emulated his life of honesty, service and humility.

Architect Rueben Okoya started his primary school education at
township School, Port Harcourt and thereafter, attended Government Comprehensive Secondary School, Borokiri, Port Harcourt, where he got the West African School Certificate in 1977. He went further to study at the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma, USA in 1978. In 1981, he bagged a bachelor’s of science in Environmental Design (BSED), and a master of Architecture (M. Arch) from Florida A and M University, Tallahassee, Florida, USA in 1984. He is registered with the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and American Institute of Architects (AIA).

Career

After his education, Architect Reuben Okoya embarked on a flourishing and successful Design and construction Career and has also devoted his time in serving Bayelsa State and the federal Government in various capacities.

Family And Faith

He is a devout Christian with true greatness wrapped in humility, simplicity and a strong unshakable faith in the will of God. He has undoubtedly latched onto the indelible footsteps of his late father, HRM Ezekiel Pappah Okoya, who was erudite, compassionate and an accomplished man that attracted great respect from everyone within and outside his domain. Architect Okoya is happily married to Natalie, who is a technocrat working with multinational company in the oil and Gas industry. They are blessed with Miss Wenginanaye Tehillah and Master Ebinimi Kenanyah.
